Introduction

Those that have followed the SAVVI project since we started, in late 2020, will know that we are not backward in coming forward. We work in the open and are not shy communicators! Over the last four years we’ve made a number of videos to convey what our project is about, and these have proved to be very popular. Buoyed by the success of this form of communication, we have released two new video for you to enjoy!

Each video highlights the progress we have made in two key areas during phase three of the SAVVI project. We are wrapping up phase three and are starting phase four of our project. The first new video highlights the SAVVI Playbook. This is presented by Paul Davidson, SAVVI Product Owner. In our second video, Paul takes a deep dive into the SAVVI Information Governance Framework.

The SAVVI Playbook

In this video, Paul introduces the SAVVI Playbook in the context of improving how data is used to identify and support vulnerable people. Effective as of July 2024, the playbook is a living document that is constantly updated and designed to help organisations collaborate and share data ethically, lawfully, and effectively.

The SAVVI Playbook is organised into six phases, each addressing different steps in the process, including:

  1. Purpose Phase: Identifying an organisation’s remit regarding vulnerabilities.
  2. Find Phase: Building a prioritised list of potentially vulnerable individuals by applying risk factor data.
  3. Assess Phase: Determining the needs of individuals in the cohort identified.
  4. Support Phase: Linking individuals to appropriate services.
  5. Report Phase: Aggregating and organising data for better visibility of outcomes.
  6. Improve Phase: Reviewing data and processes to enhance future results.

The playbook consists of detailed resources for each phase, including activities, templates, and glossary terms, allowing users to identify risk factors, conduct ethical assessments, and track their progress throughout the process. This structured approach aims to ensure efficient and effective data usage across sectors and to promote collaboration among organisations.

The SAVVI Information Governance Framework

In the second video, Paul introduces the SAVVI Information Governance Framework. This framework is an integral part of the evolving SAVVI Playbook and is designed to facilitate inter-organisational data sharing, ensuring that practices adhere to legal and ethical standards. By doing so, SAVVI aims to create a unified approach to addressing vulnerability scenarios, regardless of the specific data involved.

The IG Framework is tailored for those leading vulnerability projects but is structured to be accessible even for non-experts in information governance. It emphasises the importance of early engagement with Information Governance teams, allowing for a more informed dialogue that can shape project success from the outset. With a focus on key principles derived from authoritative guidelines, the framework provides a common foundation for stakeholders involved in vulnerability projects.

Watch the SAVVI Information Governance Framework video here, for a more detailed introduction into the key components of the IG Framework, including important activities, resources, and templates that assist teams in making informed decisions throughout the data management process.

Together, both videos provide a comprehensive overview of our approach to fostering effective data governance and collaboration.
